CLUTCH
The FX100 System uses the Power Plus I Pressure Plate with a custom heavy-duty Steel Back Organic friction disc. This clutch is engineered for heavy-duty street use. It is specifically designed for extended wear and additional clamping force for the enthusiast who has added an exhaust system, an intake system, up to 50hp NO2 upgrade, or other non-forced induction external bolt-ons. It features only slightly increased pedal pressure, longer life than stock, and normal clutch feel during engagement and disengagement for a very smooth operation.
NOTE: Organic/ Kevlar/ Formula Button Clutch kits are expected and tend to have a higher life expectancy than OEM, however not guaranteed. Improper Installation, Driving style, performance upgrades, Break in procedure and light weight flywheels will effect and have a role in determining the life expectancy of the clutch kit.
· High performance street system
· Holding capacity 70% over stock
· Heavy-Duty reinforced pressure plate
· Hi-Leverage™ pressure ring design
· Sprung hub/cushioned disc
· Steel backed organic friction material
FLYWHEEL
6061 T6 Billet Aluminum, Two-piece unit featuring a high carbon steel replaceable friction surface. SFI Certified.
NOTE: Replacing your OEM flywheel with a light weight flywheel may cause gear noise or a vibration that may not be suitable for everyone. The lighter the flywheel the more gear noise will be produced. Depending on the application Clutch Masters usually recommends Steel flywheels rather than Aluminum flywheels since Aluminum flywheels will cause more gear noise. Aluminum flywheels are usually only recommended for race applications looking to have the least amount of weight as possible. A light weight flywheel may affect the life expectancy of a clutch kit depending on the application.
Going from a Dual-Mass Flywheel (DMF) to a Single-Mass Flywheel (SMF): A Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) is a flywheel in two concentric parts or two facing flywheels stuck together with flexible compound to damp down transmitted vibration and gear rattle for the gear box. Many newer model vehicles now come standard with a factory DMF.
Many times enthusiast choose to replace a DMF with a SMF and here is why
1. DMF’s tend to be more expensive than a SMF.
2.
DMF’s are not designed to be resurfaced like conventional SMF.
3.
DMF’s usually weigh 30+ lbs depending on the application which will cause unwanted turbo lag.
4.
DMF’s cannot withstand a high rate of abuse and may fail under spirited driving.
The benefits and advantages of switching to a SMF from a DMF
1.
Reduced mass equals increased acceleration.
2.
Reduces turbo “lag” in turbo-charged engines.
3.
Increased supercharger efficiency due to less drag on the crank.
4.
Improved mid-range torque in naturally aspirated engines.
5.
SMF are able to be resurfaced and can be reused.
CLUTCH RETURNS
Clutch kits can only be returned if the incorrect part was shipped. Please keep in mind that 100% of all clutch kits that have been returned, have had absolutely no fitment or quality issues. The main issues we are finding with returns are improper installation, wrong part ordered, improper break-in procedure, and mechanic refuses to install any other clutch but the one purchased from him. For these reasons we ask that you research the parts and the installation process to ensure everything is correct. If your vehicle utilizes a Dual Mass Flywheel, please research to make sure your part does not require the flywheel to be changed. Any issues with installation, fitment, or quality should be brought to the attention of the manufacturer directly. All sales on clutch orders are final.
